Exercises 05 · Form to CRM Follow-up

Start from workflow/starter.json (Form + Normalize) or your finished lesson workflow.

Exercise 1: Don't follow up with people who replied

Task: After the Wait, check Gmail for any email from the lead. Only send the follow-up if there's none.

Done when: replying to the welcome email before the wait ends means no follow-up is sent (test with a 2-minute wait).

Hint

Gmail → Get Many messages with search query from:{{ email }}, Always Output Data on, then an IF on whether a message id exists.

Exercise 2: Alert yourself about high-priority leads

Task: When priority is high, also send yourself an instant notification (email, Slack or Telegram) with the lead's details.

Done when: submitting "Over $5k" notifies you; other budgets don't.

Hint

Branch after Normalize Lead with an IF. Both branches can run in parallel with the main flow.

Exercise 3: Update the CRM status

Task: After the follow-up is sent, set the lead's status to followed-up in the sheet.

Done when: the CRM row shows followed-up after the follow-up email.

Hint

Another Google Sheets Append or Update Row matching on email, mapping only email and status.
