Exercises 23 · Zapier/Make to n8n Migration Kit

Start from workflow/starter.json (triggers, mapping table, export reader) or your finished lesson workflow.

Exercise 1: Upload form

Task: Let a client upload their export through an n8n Form (file field) instead of curl, and show the Markdown report on the confirmation page.

Done when: uploading samples/make-blueprint.json in the form shows the report.

Exercise 2: Field-level mapping for one more app

Task: Add Airtable to paramsFor: Make airtable:ActionCreateRecord (base, table, record) and Zapier AirtableAPI create_record should fill the n8n Airtable node's base, table and fields, so the step becomes mapped instead of partial.

Done when: an Airtable step converts as mapped, with field values rewritten to n8n expressions.

Exercise 3: Client proposal

Task: Turn the report into a one-page proposal: a summary table per scenario, the total effort at your rate, the monthly savings, and a payback period (effort cost / monthly savings).

Done when: one API call returns proposal text you could paste into an email.

Stretch: Make text functions

Translate the most common Make functions (lower, upper, trim, formatDate) into n8n expression methods instead of flagging them.
