Privacy Policy for Barya
Last updated: August 1, 2026
This policy applies to the Barya and Barya Pro Android apps published by Ian Labicani. Both editions follow the same local-first data practices described below.
Data Barya stores
Barya is a local-first personal finance app. It stores the accounts, categories, budgets, transaction records, notes, preferences, custom icons or account images, and widget selections that you create. Barya does not require an account, and the developer does not receive, collect, or have access to this information through the app.
If you enable the optional four-digit app lock, Barya stores a salted verifier instead of the original digits. The app lock limits access through the Barya interface, but it does not encrypt the app database, backup files, or exports.
Where financial records are stored
Financial records are stored in a SQLite database inside the app’s private storage on your device. Preferences and the data needed for optional widgets and reminders are stored in operating-system-managed app storage. Barya does not upload or synchronize this data to a Barya server.
The app database is not encrypted by Barya. Device-level protections, including your screen lock and device encryption, are controlled by your operating system.
Sharing and disclosure
Barya does not sell, rent, or automatically share financial records or app-usage data with the developer, advertisers, data brokers, or other third parties.
Data leaves Barya only when you deliberately save or share a backup or export through your device’s file picker or sharing interface. Optional widgets and notification reminders can display derived financial information outside the app according to your device and lock-screen settings.
Backups and exports
Android cloud backup and device-transfer backup are disabled for Barya app data. Barya creates JSON backups and CSV exports only when you request them. These files are not encrypted and may contain sensitive financial information.
You choose where an exported file is saved or which app or service receives it. Barya does not receive a copy. After a file leaves Barya, the destination you selected controls its storage, security, retention, and deletion.
Permissions used
Notifications: Barya may ask for permission to send optional daily reminders and backup reminders. You can decline or disable notifications in system settings.
Restart and vibration: Android allows Barya to reschedule enabled reminders and refresh widgets after the device restarts, and to use vibration for notification feedback.
Files and sharing: Barya uses the operating system’s file picker and share sheet when you import, save, or share files. It does not request broad access to all files on your device. The production Android app does not request location, contacts, camera, microphone, or internet permission.
Third-party services and SDKs
Barya is built with Flutter and open-source libraries for local database storage, preferences, charts, file selection, file sharing, and app information. These components support features on your device; Barya does not use them to send your financial data to the developer.
Barya does not currently include advertising, behavioral tracking, cloud synchronization, Google Analytics, Firebase Analytics, Crashlytics, or another automatic crash-reporting or analytics SDK.
Deleting your data
Deleted records and categories remain in Trash for up to three days so you can restore them. You may permanently delete eligible items sooner from Trash.
To delete all financial data stored by Barya, open the app drawer and choose Danger zone → Reset Financial Data. This permanently removes accounts, records, categories, budgets, and Trash, then restores the app’s starter financial data. Appearance, currency, passcode, reminder, and widget settings are preserved.
To remove the remaining app preferences and local app storage, clear Barya’s storage in Android system settings or uninstall the app. Manual backup and export files are separate files; delete them from every location or service where you chose to save or share them.
Changes to this policy
If Barya’s data practices materially change, this page and the in-app privacy information will be updated with a new effective date. The privacy policy and the app’s Google Play Data safety disclosures are intended to describe the same behavior.
